Step 1: Keeping electric rates affordable
Local people. Nationally low electric rates.
As everyday expenses become more and more costly, we remain focused on minimizing the impact of inflation on our customers’ bills. That’s why we’re proud to say last year our electric rates were 17% below the national average and consistently over the last decade among the lowest in the Lone Star state.

We know how important it is that we deliver reliable power at an affordable price. Texas is our home, too, and most of us at Entergy are customers just like you. Our teams work diligently every day to help keep your bills as low as possible.
- Grid work BEFORE storms saves customers money: When we reinforce our grid before severe weather strikes, customers end up saving money because it’s much more costly to make repairs post-storm. Phase 1 of our resilience plan includes $137 million in strategic projects to strengthen the Southeast Texas power grid, reduce storm-related outages and save customers millions in restoration costs over the coming decades.
- Modernizing our generation fleet: Modern technologies equal better efficiency, and our new, modern power generation sources help lower operating costs and improve the reliability of our system. Next year, the Orange County Advanced Power Station will come online as our latest modern generation source, and the PUCT recently approved our proposal to build two additional highly efficient natural gas power plants.
- Managing fuel costs: We’re in a constant state of trying to buy fuel at the lowest price available. Fuel costs are never marked up, so customers pay exactly what we pay.
- Delivering extra cost savings to you: While most Texans rely on the Electric Reliability Council of Texas grid, Entergy Texas operates under the Midcontinent Independent System Operator grid. Being a member of MISO brings cost savings directly to our customers because we share resources among a large pool of member utilities that stretches from Canada to the Gulf of Mexico. Between 2014 and 2024, our customers saved a total of $605 million from the company’s participation in MISO.
- Recruiting large customers who help pay grid costs: Entergy’s work helping communities recruit large businesses provides our region benefits like new jobs, tax revenue growth and investments. But it also helps lower the cost of power for residential customers, too. Having large, industrial customers to help pay for the upkeep and expansion of the power grid everyone uses, eases the costs residential customers bear for their power needs.
- Offering bill support: Our Bill Toolkit provides customers with resources and available assistance options to help them more easily manage their energy bill. Whether you have questions about your bill, need more time to pay or are looking for assistance, our one-stop shop connects you to available programs and services. You can find simple ways to lower your electricity usage, too.
- Putting money back in your pockets: Every tax season, Entergy has helped low-income customers across our service area receive $55 million in federal tax refunds in a given year. We help customers save additional dollars by connecting them to other federal funding resources including LIHEAP and Single Stop, and we offer The Power to Care – our long-held bill assistance program for qualifying customers.
