Intending to fuel Southeast Texas’ natural gas growth to address the rising energy demand, Entergy Texas, a subsidiary of a Fortune 500 electric company Entergy Corporation, has joined forces with Kinder Morgan (KMI), a North American energy infrastructure player, and the Golden Pass liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal (GPX) export project in Sabine Pass, Texas.
The Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUCT) approved last week the first phase of Entergy Texas’ Texas Future Ready Resiliency Plan. This first phase is a $137 million undertaking over three years designed to make the Southeast Texas power grid stronger and ready to withstand the worst of severe weather events.
The plan is expected to reduce outage times by an estimated 1 billion minutes after severe weather events, over the next 50 years.
The Texas utility regulator has given Entergy the green light to spend $137 million to strengthen its portion of the electric grid against extreme weather.
Texas regulators on Jan. 16, 2025, approved the first phase of Entergy’s Texas Future Ready Resiliency Plan, including undergrounding power lines, rebuilding transmission and modernizing local distribution systems.
